Creating a Scalable eCommerce Platform for Custom Merchandise Ordering and Fulfilment
MerchandiseNow is a custom merchandise provider offering businesses a way to design, order, and manage branded products at scale. The project involved designing a bespoke eCommerce web platform that supported both straightforward product purchasing and more complex, custom order workflows.
As Lead Designer, I was responsible for shaping the end-to-end user experience, from product discovery through to customisation, checkout, and order management. The goal was to create a flexible, scalable platform that could handle both standard eCommerce behaviour and more bespoke, service-led merchandise requests within a single cohesive system.
The resulting platform delivered a unified eCommerce experience that combined standard product browsing with flexible customisation and order management capabilities. By consolidating previously fragmented workflows into a single system, the platform significantly simplified the ordering process for users and reduced operational complexity for the business.
Improved product discovery, clearer customisation flows, and a more structured checkout experience helped users navigate the platform with greater confidence and reduced friction throughout the purchase journey. This was particularly impactful for more complex, bespoke orders, where clarity and guidance were previously limited.
From a business perspective, the new system created a scalable foundation for managing both standard and custom merchandise orders, reducing reliance on manual processes and enabling more consistent pricing, fulfilment, and customer communication.
Overall, the project established a more efficient, user-centred eCommerce platform that improved both customer experience and internal operational scalability.
